We at MTIP understand that the physical and mental wellness of our team members has a direct impact on our overall performance.

As long-term impact investors in healthtech, we are fully aware of our responsibility towards both society and the environment. However, this means little when you are not creating accountability and transparency around employee wellbeing. We at MTIP understand that the physical and mental wellness of our team members has a direct impact on our overall performance. Healthy, satisfied, and motivated employees are more productive and engaged. That’s why we try to take care of our employees to the best possible extent and incorporated employee wellbeing into our ESG agenda.

Our Vision

Create a workplace that empowers everyone to focus on their overall wellbeing so that the foundation is laid for the ability of each MTIP team member to reach his or her potential to the fullest.

Our Wellbeing Framework

The MTIP wellbeing framework provides the entire team with the tools and resources needed for a healthy, inspired and empowered working culture and environment. It is based on the four pillars of mental, physical, social, and financial wellbeing.

Mental Wellbeing

At MTIP, the wellbeing of our employees is very important to us. We want to promote a mental wellbeing from the outset through a work environment in which each individual person feels included and can develop his or her talents and skills. For this reason, we value psychological security in the work environment. By this we mean the team principle that we prioritize diversity and inclusion, and we make sure to set up a space where everyone can have their voice heard, valued, and respected. We cultivate psychological security by encouraging all MTIP colleagues to communicate openly and pursue their ideas. And, most importantly, it’s okay to fail. We consciously maintain a “no-blame” culture in which things can be tried out, even if they don’t lead to success in the end. You can learn a lot from mistakes, and they can lead to new, innovative ideas. Furthermore, we work with people from different backgrounds, cultures, and education levels because we believe that their insights will make us stronger. Diversity and inclusion drive business results, spark innovation, and make working together even more exciting. Thus, our small team is very diverse and consists of people from Poland, Germany, China, Switzerland, Finland, France and the Philippines with ten languages spoken at MTIP.

Taking Pride in Equal Pay and Being a Role Model

MTIP believes in equal opportunities and therefore, equal pay – regardless of gender. Additionally, we have successfully achieved a gender-balanced workforce with 58% women in the team. We truly take pride in the following credo: “Leading by Example.” We guide our portfolio companies through our own behavior. As a specialist healthtech investor, MTIP invests in companies that aim to address good health and wellbeing. At the same time, we encourage our portfolio companies to actively contribute to gender equality, industry, innovation and infrastructure, reduced inequalities and sustainable cities and communities.

Physical Wellbeing

This pillar refers to the physical health of employees. At MTIP, we proactively promote and encourage our employees to make positive health choices. We recognize the importance of physical activity in improving health and wellbeing by supporting sport activities (e.g. membership in sports club) with up to CHF 500. Furthermore, MTIP promotes a healthier lifestyle by providing their employees with healthy eating options (mineral water, tea, fruits etc.) available at their disposal free of charge at the office. In terms of our drinking water, we have installed a unique water system that delivers fresh, filtered water straight from our kitchenette faucet. With this new device in place, no more plastic bottles will be needed inside the MTIP office. Other steps that are implemented to improve physical wellbeing in the workplace are sit/stand desks and ergonomic chairs. Both effectively prevent back pain and stimulate the metabolism and hence, reduce the risk of weight gain.

Social Wellbeing

Social wellbeing is the ability to build solid relationships and bridges between co-workers and superiors. Considering we spend one-third of our lives at work, the interactions we have with colleagues can tremendously impact the quality of our lives and our motivation for our job. After the COVID-19 pandemic, MTIP has successfully implemented a hybrid work arrangement which aims to help balance employee’s wellbeing. We acknowledge that working from home a couple days per week benefits overall productivity, enables a better work-life balance, and leads to improved job satisfaction.

Another initiative that facilitates creating a sense of community building at work is the annual MTIP Offsite. This 3-day event provides an opportunity to enhance communication, build a company culture and learn more about each other’s passions, skills and interests. Community is crucial to the wellbeing of the people and the organization they work for. Being in a new environment creates motivation, variety, opens up new perspectives and allows us to think outside of the box.

Financial Wellbeing

Paying competitive salaries is not the only way to offer financial wellbeing to employees. Other MTIP benefits that reduce financial anxiety and stress include:

  • Contribution to individual health insurance: In Switzerland, the employer is not obliged to contribute to the employees’ health insurance. However, at MTIP, we provide for a monthly contribution towards the individual health insurance.
  • Education and training: If needed, we support the further development of our employees by covering the expenses for their professional training and further education (e.g. MBA, PhD, CFA).
  • Transportation: We cover the expenses for the Half Fare Travelcard on the SwissPass after a successful probation period.
  • Lunch Voucher: MTIP contributes to the daily lunches of its employees via the Lunch-Check app.
