Jean Wallerand is an investment professional with over two years of experience in private equity secondaries. He is joining MTIP as an Investment Manager, Indirect, where he will be responsible for sourcing, evaluating, and executing secondary transactions. Prior to joining MTIP, Jean was a Senior Analyst at Seine Capital, where he was a founding team member of a newly launched secondary fund and led financial modeling, due diligence, and investment memoranda across a broad range of LP-led and GP-led transactions globally. He previously worked as a Private Equity Analyst at IXO Private Equity, focusing on late-stage VC and small - to mid-cap buyout investments. Jean holds a Master in Finance from ESSEC Business School and an Engineering degree in applied mathematics alongside a Master in Management from CY Tech University and Grenoble Ecole de Management. He is fluent in French, German, and English.
What motivates you?
I am motivated by curiosity and by situations that require long-term thinking. I enjoy working on complex investment situations where timing and perspective matter, and where understanding the broader context is key. I am also driven by continuous learning and by working with thoughtful people in a collaborative environment.
What brought you to this job?
I have always been drawn to investments that require patience and a good sense of timing. Secondary investing plays an important role in keeping capital moving within private markets, and I enjoy working on situations where understanding context and incentives really matters. MTIP stood out to me for its pragmatic approach, strong team culture, and long-term perspective.
What is your passion outside of work?
I enjoy spending time outdoors with my wife and children, especially going for long walks together. It helps me switch off, get some fresh air, and keep a good balance alongside a demanding professional life.
